MODERN ETHNIC DESIGN CENTER
a training center for ethnic & ethical fashion
SNEAK PEEK INTO THE PROJECT'S ACTIVITIES
The Modern Ethnic Design Center (MEDC) is a Training Center for local Cambodian Fashion Designers and has officially been launched in February 2017.
The MEDC is a project by Bazaar Berlin, a well-known trade fair, exhibiting ethnic products from all around the world. Together with the Fashion Design Institut from Germany and Raffles International College in Cambodia, we have set up the MEDC in Phnom Penh.
The project was initiated together with suPPPort ltd., a consulting company for sustainable development projects with German management. suPPPort facilitated the project to receive funds through the develoPPP.de program, a funding scheme by the Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development in Germany. Aim of the 3-year project is to annually train 15 Cambodian designers in developing collections, which combine traditional Cambodian designs with European trends, and to facilitate market access to Europe.
